Jan. 2021 Online Acting Class

Starting Jan. 20th 2021 on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm (EST) we are happy to announce more spaces will be available in the adult acting class. The class is limited to 12 actors.
Incorporating improvisation, acting techniques, voice & movement actors focus on building solid acting methods. Improvisation, sense memory, technique exercises, monologue & scene work enable actors to develop deeper concentration, depth, imagination & character work enabling them to make bold inventive acting choices in a supportive atmosphere of creative play. Actors will come to understand & experience the tools they need to successfully navigate auditions, rehearsals and performances.

Shauna Kanter is the artistic director of Voice Theatre. She has taught acting and voice at: The Stella Adler Studio, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, T. Schreiber Studio and the New Actor’s Workshop. In England at: The Mountview Theatre Conservatory, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Queen Margaret College and Middlesex University – all members of the Professional Theatre Training Programme of Great Britain. She has been a guest artist at Bowdoin College, Williams College and Harden-Simmons College. Ms. Kanter has directed over forty plays in eleven countries from Ramallah, Palestine to Aberdeen, Scotland to San Antonio, Texas. She directed the Off-Broadway production of RETZACH at 59E59 Theatre, Measure for Measure for the Abilene Shakespeare Festival, Women’s Minyan at JET, in Detroit as well as multiple plays for Voice Theatre at the Byrdcliffe Theatre in Woodstock, NY. She is published by Cune Press, River Technologies, Arts Navigator UK and Drama Book Publishers. Currently she is teaching for Gilda’s Club, NYC, Williams College and privately.

Real People Pre-Debate Show

What do Republican and Democratic women really feel about the election, voting rights, COVID, wearing masks and more? Hear everyday women from all walks of life tell their own stories uninterrupted and uncensored. Eight women on both sides of the political divide tell their original stories about how they are experiencing COVID and the election. In these uninterrupted solo monologues Trump and Biden supporters unite so that we may all understand, grow and join together to build better communities.

Acting Class online

Actors will come to understand and experience the tools they need to navigate auditions, rehearsals and performances.
