Announcing Voice Theatre’s Main Stage Production

The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder. “Save the Human race.” One of the defining American plays of the century.

“Wilder stages history as a series of giddy pratfalls, in which mankind keeps bouncing back from every near wipe-out.”
– John Lahr

our hearts go out

Our hearts go out to the performers and their families of the Ghost Ship fire in Oakland, California who were forced to work and perform in unsafe conditions. No one should be creating, working and living in unsafe conditions . Greed in real estate has once again trumped respect and safety for these artists and their audiences. Live performances are where we connect as individuals, families and communities; it defines who we are and artists must be respected and cherished.

Happy Turkey Day

Oh those frisky immigrants.  Thanks to all and everyone in Voice Theatre who have created our shows and those who have been in our audiences.

Happy Thanksgiving … Enjoy your gratitude.search

What we have to protect this Thanksgiving

History Lesson #2

Fascism: 1. the doctrines, methods, or movement of the Fascisti. 2. a system of government characterized by rigid one-party dictatorship, forcible suppression of opposition, private economic enterprise under centralized government control, belligerent nationalism, racism and militarism. 3a) a political movement based on such policies. b) fascist behavior.  See Nazi.

Dictators make all kinds of charming deals… we must be vigilant and empathetic when it is revealed that “the deals” do not reflect or benefit the people of our communities.

Voice Theatre is an artistic environment of inclusion

Voice Theatre is an artistic environment of inclusion where all ideas, people, questions and thoughts are welcome. We must increase our reference of understanding, broadening the echo chambers of all our news outlets including this very one, Facebook.  But always know that truth is not an elite experience. There are lessons from the past that do warn us and if history can ever serve us at all we must learn and listen to history as well as each other. Economics have a pesky way of influencing certain political behaviors that in turn have deep ramifications for the rights of individuals, rights that the Constitution holds dear. In theatre we have the great luxury of expression of all that is humane and it is to that great height that we must align ourselves.legacy_image_for_constant_contact
