WAMC Roundtable July 6, 2016 – Shauna and Christa[/caption]Shauna and Christa were on the WAMC Roundtable this morning – a nice interview talking about Voice Theatre’s history and the upcoming Summer Youth Workshops. Check out the audio on the WAMC website.
Our first reading of the 2016 season was a well-attended staging of Will Eno’s 2014 comedy, “The Realistic Joneses”, last week at New World.
This week on Thursday, April 7, also at New World we continue our Spring Reading Series with Amy Herzog’s 2013 Pulitzer Finalist, “4000 Miles”, directed by Peter Studlo. Come check it out – readings are a great way to meet local actors and hear innovative pieces being read, while chilling out with a drink or a few nibbles. Head over to Marc Maron’s interview with Patrick Stewart to hear him talk about the fundamental power of breathing the same air as the actors on stage, then come join us for this powerful and moving reading.
Our anti-bullying workshops across the Hudson Valley high school systems have been going really well, but it’s hard work for the participants and they wouldn’t get through without some fuel. We’d like to send around a huge thank you to all the local supporting restaurants and businesses – and the generous owners of those restaurants and businesses – who have supported our efforts by providing lunches for the students. Our friends at Oriole 9, Woodstock Meats, the Landau Grill, Garden Cafe and Joshua’s Cafe, all in Woodstock, have been instrumental in helping us keep our sessions happy, fed and focused. None of this would happen without you. We really appreciate your support and your contribution to the anti-bullying program.
Our efforts with local students will continue over the coming months with our Summer Youth Workshops at the Byrdcliffe Theater. The summer workshops are filling fast, so sign up soon!
Voice Theatre’s 2016 season is warming up. Session 1 of our Summer Youth Workshops at Woodstock’s Byrdliffe Theater is already half full, but Early Bird discounts are available until May 1st. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn or hone your acting chops – the workshops are run by the Voice Theatre team of professional actors, directors and company members carefully selected by Voice Theatre.
Tickets are available for the Spring Reading Series by calling 845-679-0154. The readings are held on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm, beginning March 31st, at New World Home Cooking. The first reading is a presentation of Will Eno’s “The Realistic Joneses”, directed by Sean Marrinan. A staged reading has all the drama of a play, at a greatly reduced price, in New World’s casual and friendly atmosphere.

And building off the success of our anti-bullying workshops in Kingston schools last year, we will expand our unique programs in area schools this coming year.
